Crafty Fox Market, SE15 and SW9

In 2010 a very Crafty Fox (known as the lovely Siobhan Koehler) came up with idea of a South London based design market celebrating homespun, independent makers and bringing their excellent wares, anything from jewellery and fashion to ceramics and cushions, to us down here in the Sarf.

The market is run held twice a year with two shows now for the spring and also pre-Christmas for *essential* present buying. And this weekend it was held in Peckham in the super-multi-purpose Bussey Building (that I've walked past every day for the last three months on my commute and never noticed...eagle eyed I may not be).
Here are some of my faves from the show...

I was very pleased to discover Eleanor Stuart's clever monochrome ceramics including these fine bone china mugs in The Tiny Collection. There's something rather wonderfully Borrowers about them...
I always find I'm drawn by the colour and vibrancy for Kangan Arora's textiles (bonus points for anyone who remembers she has been featured on the blog before)...and she shared a stand with equally eye catching Jonna Saarinen's screen-printed textiles and homeware too - one of her little trays would be perfect for tea for two!

My magpie eye was caught by some beautiful handmade lace jewellery from Bobbin & Bow, love the use of old books in the display (very apt too as I popped into the market on my way to Blookclub!)...
And, as always, at the Crafty Fox punters are given a chance to have a go at a bit of craft themselves.

So this time - sewing queen Sew Over It was showing customers how to make fabric earrings, a screenprinting workshop was led by East London printing expert Mr Wingate and lovely Betty & Walter (a brand I know well from my day job!) gave everyone a chance to design their own chair...
It's a mighty fine day out for those of anyone with a crafty eye...the next market will be in just a couple of weeks on the 26th and 27th April at the Dogstar in Brixton, head on down for some foxy fun...

Here's my mini haul from the day, I was *quite* restrained (not sure how that happened!) - a Kangan Arora cushion cover that I think I'll use as a rather nice kit bag and a badge from I Like Cats (I know shhh) which I'm going to wear on a black jumper and it will be great...
Oh and I bought a plant voluntarily this weekend too, but don't worry it's a(nother) succulent so I hopefully shouldn't kill it too quickly. But ain't it pretty!?
